“It’s called the Old Mill Park in Mill Valley! You can walk on the streets and there’s a lot of shade! You can park by the library and walk with your dog to the Cascade Falls! Lots of shade, flat terrain and it’s a good walking distance! Old Mill Park https://goo.gl/maps/w83VU3YfznY9fGvV8”

“Madrone – Baltimore Canyon. Turn left at Perry’s Deli in Larkspur and follow the road all the way out to the end. Some parking. Flat hike in the redwoods…always cooler there.”

“Blackstone Canyon in Marinwood is very nice and shaded. You can walk quite a ways along the creek before the trail starts to get challenging and eventually climbs to the top of Big Rock ridge. This trail is lovely in a light rain, verdant and aromatic.”

“Indian Valley College fire road. Where the horse stables are. That fire road is flat and completely shaded. They also allow friendly dogs who respond to voice control off leash. West access: from Hwy 101 in Novato, take the exit for Rowland Ave west, turn right at South Novato Boulevard, turn left at Arthur St, turn left at Indian Valley Rd, and follow approximately .9 miles. MCOSD gate is on the left.”

“There’s one in Mill Valley off Camino Alto called the Escalon Fire Rd that leads to the Lower Summit Fire Rd that part is completely shaded and in the redwoods and it’s all flat. Take Camino Alto to Overhill Rd parking is on Escalon Rd that connects right to the Escalon fire Rd trail head.”

“There’s no beach more dramatic in Marin than Rodeo Beach at the Headlands Recreational Area before the GG Bridge. There’s also plenty of hiking trails throughout the Headlands. The trail that starts at the beach is particularly beautiful because it climbs up into the mountains above and offers breathtaking panoramic views of the ocean and the city. A car ride throughout the Headlands offers lots of scenic views as well with places to park and take short walks out to vista points including an easy walk to see the GG Bridge from a very close vantage point.”

“Anyone who lives in Marin needs to have the awe-inspiring experience of walking or biking across the Golden Gate Bridge once in their lives (views galore and historic memorabilia where it ends in SF plus additional places to walk).”

“Close to Oaktops is Horne Trail in Marinwood, which is a hidden local gem especially when there’s been enough rain to fill the stream that runs alongside it. A little further away in Corte Madera is Ring Mountain. A treat awaits you at the top of the mountain where there’s a famous rock that attracts lots of climbers and views of all of Tiburon! If you’re looking for flat walking trails and great places to take the pooch look no further than Hamilton Field just a couple exits away Nave Drive in Novato and just up the street at McInnis Park where there’s a level path out to the bay.”

“If you want to spend time outside and you enjoy farmer’s markets and food trucks then visit the Country Mart at Larkspur Landing on Sunday when the place comes alive with good food, shopping, and live music. It is a beautiful setting with picnic tables, koi pond, restaurants, and stores. And if you want to take a walk, just cross the sky bridge over the street to the ferry building and walk along the sidewalk under the freeway overpass to the rowing club where there’s a trail that follows the bay. You might get lucky and see boats full of synchronized rowers practicing for races!”
